Governance and Accountability

Independence isn’t a slogan here. It’s structure — and structure you can inspect.

Empowering People. Strengthening Communities.

Accountability

Answerable, by design

Each 9th Island organization governs itself: its own board, its own finances, its own filings. Collaboration between organizations happens through written agreements — not shared control.

We publish: board rosters when appointments are final, program operators on every page, separate handling of dues vs. charitable gifts, and — as programs mature — financial disclosures and impact reports with documented methodology.

Cultural authority within HACC rests with qualified practitioners and kumu, protected by governance design.
